Kids Classic

Today, Ian (my hubby) and Jacob (my 3 year old) were looking at one of our wedding pictures. Here's how the conversation went...

Jacob: What's that daddy?

Ian: That's a picture of when mummy and daddy got married.

Jacob: Where's Jacob?

Ian: You're not there because that was before you were born.

Jacob: What's that mean?

Ian: (not knowing how to explain) Ummm...you were in Mummy's tummy.

Jacob: (long pause, thinking) Daddy? Why did Mummy eat me?

Hahahahahahahaha!!

A Question For All The Mums...

I was just wondering at what age/s did your child/children stop having a daytime nap? And how did it happen?

Jacob turns 3 in about 5 weeks time and it seems that he goes longer and longer during the day before he will stop for a nanna nap. The problem is that if he keeps going until about 3-3.30pm and then has a snooze, he's then waking up about 5pm (or later!) - which is only a couple of hours before he's due to go down again for the night.

I was just wondering what experiences others have had??

Am I The Only One??

I have started walking home from the train station after work and while I'm walking, I like to listen to the radio. (Note: I am not an ipod person. I much prefer the radio to listen to what's being talked about and then I also get to hear a variety of songs, rather than downloading and having to select what I want to hear. Basically, I'm just lazy :P)

Anyway, my phone has a radio in it, so I just connect the headphones/headset and listen as I walk. The thing I need to know is...am I only person whose cords get in a terrible knot e.v.e.r.y. time?? Every single day I am unraveling the cord and having to get all the knots out. Grrr... Does anyone know of a way that I can store the headset so that when I pull it out it isn't a fight for 5mins to get the thing long enough to plug in??

PS I have a Nokia 6120 and the cord is like this...

The Today Meme

Today.

1. What I had for lunch today: Ham & cheese sandwich on wholemeal.

2. Something I apologized for: I don't think there's anything...today.

3. The last person I thanked: Jacob for being a good boy while we were out visiting today.

4. The last movie I watched: The Brave One.

5. My favorite song right now: don't have one :(

6. Where I ate out last: I last ate out on Friday night at a new bar/dining place in town called Tanbah

7. What I'm wearing right now: three-quarter trackie daks (white) and a three-quarter length sleeve t-shirt (pink) and socks

8. What made me laugh: Playing "Tickles" with Jacob

9. The last person I spoke to on the phone: My sister, this morning.

10. Someone I'm thinking of right now: my hubby (I'm thinking that hopefully he's getting dinner organised?!?! Always gotta hope!)

NOTE WELL!! This is my first ever meme...next thing you know, I'll be doing Thursday Thirteen...watch out everybody...hahahahaha!!

My Day Today

I kind of had a sickie today. Well actually, I did have a sickie. And it was good too. I just lazed around (Jacob goes to Daycare on Wednesdays), watched a movie on Foxtel (The Brave One - with Jodie Foster) and then got some organising/filing done in the study. So I am now sitting in a nice clean, sorted, comfortable space to write in this journal.

I've had a hectic last few weeks and will try to write about that in future. Just let me say that getting my son's tonsils and adenoids out was one of my worst parenting experiences. I just wasn't prepared for what it would be like.

Anyways, I'm off out to dinner tonight with some friends from high school. We try to meet once a month. It's amazing that the four of us are still friends after so long. These are friends that know me inside and out and have been through everything in my adult life with me. I don't have to put on any persona with them. I can be myself - good and bad. I value them so highly. I will have to remember to remind them how I feel when I see them tonight...awwww...

My New Crocs

So the other week I finally relented and went to the Croc Shop to buy Jacob some Crocs. I have resisted getting him any because I reckon they just look, well, kinda ordinary... But practicality finally won out and so I went shopping for him. Got him some nice navy blue ones and they are so quick and easy to get on and off which is exactly what I was hoping for.

However, while I was there, I spotted a pair for myself. OMG!! Am I really going to buy and wear some Crocs??? I never would have thought it. So now I am a complete hypocrite and am loving wear my new pair of shoes. They are so comfy. But they aren't like traditional Crocs...these are a bit different.

They aren't too daggy are they???

Happy Mothers Day

I've had a lovely day today :) I woke up and was greeted with pressies, hugs and a cup of tea (yay!). Jacob bought the pressies to me and announced, "There's clothes in there, Mummy." He's not quite 3 yet, and was very excited to tell me what was inside the wrapping - haha!

I was lucky enough to received some new jimmy-jams and a digital photo frame. But the best pressies were the poem with Jacob's hand prints painted on it and a keyring that he had made at daycare. Yay for home made gifts made with love!!

My new jim-jams

My new digital photo frame (complete with sticky fingerprints already!)

So I hope all the Mums had a fantastic Mothers Day and all the kids spent some time either with their mums or thinking of them :)

Bought Me Some Tracky Daks

The other day I went on a small shopping splurge. One of the items I bought were some tracky daks (tracksuit pants). Now, they are a little different to my current ones as these are hipsters - which I was in full knowledge of at the time of purchase.

I do have some hipster jeans which I really like and find really comfy (except I am continually hoisting them up, like an oldie does) so the hipster thing isn't new to me. But I have discovered that the problem with hipster tracky daks is that little bit of space between the bottom of your top and the top of your bottoms...it gets bloody cold!

I mean the tracky daks are there to get you warm and when there is that large (in may case) patch of skin on your back that is continually exposed, it seems to defeat the purpose?!?! I will continue to endeavour with them, but I might have to get a longer shirt that covers up what the old pants used to ;)

Okay, so...
endlessblush has Wentworth... mrserin has Robin Hood... they can have them 'cause I am in lust with Sporticus!!

So maybe I'm a little weird having the hots for a kids show character (he's from LazyTown - shown here on Foxtel), but boy, can this guy move!! I love his Icelandic accent and his gorgeous eyes. Mmmmm...LOL!!

IRL, he is Magnus Scheving and he seems to excel at everything he does - he's a world class aerobic champion, gymnast, creator, director, writer, and the list goes on. Quite an interesting read, if you can be bothered googling him.

So there you have it. One of many weird things about me :)

Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

Last night, my friend and I were sitting in the living room and I said to
her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some
machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the
plug."

She got up, unplugged the TV, and threw out my wine.

She's such a bitch.

The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing.

After what seemed an eternity in which he tried his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his car and fall into it. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off--it was a fine dry summer night - flicked the blinkers on and off a couple of times, honked the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained still for a few more minutes as some more of the other patrons' vehicles left. At last, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, he pulled out and drove slowly down the road.

The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and administered a breathalyzer test. To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the man had consumed any alcohol at all!

Dumbfounded, the officer said, "I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station.
